Card is a fool, one of a long line who, once they got a little bit of success or wealth, *completely* lost track of the realization that their own experience is no longer reflective of that of most persons.

yes, we are aware of card’s politics. but posting a quote related solely to the craft of writing is not an endorsement of the writer’s political views.

I’ll second that. I actually wrote an article here on AuthorScoop about Card’s opinions on sexual morality and his vision of how things should be to accommodate those opinions (and ultimately what that might mean for his career.) I strongly disagree with him. Enough that my lip curled when I came across this quote.
But you know what? When he’s right, he’s right. And this quote was quite right. I have not yet read any of his work, but I know he’s hugely popular. It’s a moral quandary of my own, to decide (or not) to patronize an artist who offends me when he’s not plying his art.
But even a broken clock is right twice a day. I like the quote.

Pollitically, he’s a toad. I don’t like his books, either, although the how-to one about writing characters isn’t bad. But it’s still a good, pithy quote.
