R.I.P. Manong Al Robles
It was with great sadness that I read an email this morning from Oscar Bermeo that Al Robles had passed away this weekend.
A gifted poet and oral historian, Robles was often best known as a friend—especially to the elderly and downtrodden veterans of Chinatown and Manilatown he assisted, whether with getting to appointments or getting a meal in their bellies.
