Friday Evening Book Reviews

It’s not like these things grow on trees, you know.  Someone had to think it up and here’s the story of how that happened - THE ROAD TO WOODSTOCK: THE MAN BEHIND THE LEGENDARY FESTIVAL, by Michael Lang (with Holly George-Warren.)

And pinning the musical theme smack in the middle of the USA, Larry O’Dell and Jeff Moore offer ANOTHER HOT OKLAHOMA NIGHT: A ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY.

Thriller writer, Gregg Hurwitz, can’t be displeased by the review he gets in Denver for his latest, TRUST NO ONE.

Todd Strasser’s NIGHTTIME - TOO DARK TO SEE could be just the thing to draw the children to the dark side, if they’re so inclined.

  1. Danny Bloom Says:

There’s a good backstory at the Taipei Times website about how Taiwanese director Ang Lee came across the book about Woodstock by Elliot Tiber, titled TAKING WOODSTOCK. That book was the basis for the Ang Lee movie coming out mid August. And it’s a comedy, go figure!

“Steve Burns” — which I am sure is a pseudonym — commented on another blog:

“What’s completely skipped over in the AP review by Mr Hill (though
Michael Lang, to his credit, includes it in his book) is the fact that a man
named Elliot Tiber played a crucial role in helping Woodstock relocate successfully from Wallkill to Bethel. Tiber called Lang and Woodstock Ventures on the phone to offer use of
land and his own concert permit (which he, as Bethel Chamber of
Commerce President, was in position to provide). Elliot’s story is ”the little miracle” in the Woodstock
mix that brings a fresh new look at the whole scene 40 years ago.”

Mr Lang does mention MR Tiber in his book, and Tiber does mention Lang, many times, in HIS book. Nice. Has it really been 40 years? Omigod!
