I can’t tell if The New Republic likes Martin Amis’ latest, THE PREGNANT WIDOW, or not.  Perhaps you’ll fare more clearly.  They certainly don’t seem to care for Mr. Amis himself.

The Christian Science Monitor finds Niall Ferguson’s HIGH FINANCIER: THE LIVES AND TIME OF SIEGMUND WARBURG, a bit of a head-scratcher.

A reviewer in Colorado Springs was well impressed by Jeremy Agnew’s MEDICINE IN THE OLD WEST: A HISTORY 1850 - 1900.

And Publishers Weekly keeps us abreast of what’s news in Audio Books.

    You cast your net wide, Jamie. The Colorado Springs Independent — a freebie distributed on the street — is actually a far better paper than the “official” city rag, the Gazette. The op-ed lunacy on the Gazette is good for some chuckles, though.
